Radical Poetry Nite w/ Maggie May | Ed Genesis | John Withee + more

Join us on May 27th for an evening of poetry and acoustic performances from local artists and activists speaking truth to power and engaging in some radical dialectic. Featured artists include:

MAGGIE MAY (from GRAND RAPIDS, MI)
An anti-fascist musician who knocks Nazis dead with her politically charged ukulele tunes. (Also, please donate or buy some of her awesome merch).

ED GENESIS
A local poet and rapper who organizes here in the community to spread awareness (and dismantle) the school to prison pipeline.

JOHN WITHEE
A long time area radical and poet, John will be springing through to offer his brand of anti-establishment insights.

HOSTED BY (and with occasional lyrical interruptions from) ANDY ARGO

We have more feature poets to be announced, and we will also be making time for an OPEN MIC. If you have a poem or two, or would simply like to jump on the soapbox and give a passionate polemic of the status quo, please feel free to sign up. If you are interested in reading (roughly 5 minute slots, but don't feel compelled to stretch yourself) please post on this event page below.

We will also be collecting donations for the BOILING POINT. The Boiling Point is a house on the north-east side of downtown that intends to provide a space for various radically minded political groups and community organizations in Kalamazoo to hold meetings, workshops, and provide services to the community.

Fiona Dickinson | Samantha Cooper | Brian Koenigsknecht

Fiona Dickinson
Quivers the strings from a mournful thought and then warms the key with peace that these are just old recollections.

Samantha Cooper
Pours a warm libation sweetened with honey and within its reflection appears a tender smile of fulfillment.

Brian Koenigsknecht Music
Steps into a blustering sea, sinks deep beyond the shallows, and then walks back out to tell us how terrifyingly beautiful it is down there.
